Watering and seedtime

Watering and seedtime

Before sowing the rice, we water the land trying to get a water film on the land. With the help of a manure spreader the seeds are spread out evenly along the land.

Sowing period is at the end of April, beginning of May.

Son, spiking and maturity

Son, spiking and maturity

When the seeds grow, the sons appear before the spikes are created. These sons are the little green dots you can see when the tips of the rice stem get out of the water.

After those stems grow , the spikes are formed where the rice grain will be formed.

Maturation phase is easy to recognize, is when the spike get a golden colour.

Harvest

It is in October, one month later than in the well-known rice areas, because of the weather and altitude, in October the spike is ready to be harvested . To harvest the rice we have to use a special harvest machine adapted for.
